Q: how do I set up surround sound to new apple tv 4th gen

my old apple tv had a toslink that allowed it to run through my surround sound. This one does not have that. How do I connect the apple tv content to my surround sound?

    does your TV have Optical? i have mine setup HDMI from ATV/TV and then optical TV/receiver. This also has the benefit of not having to change the receiver input - anything on my tv will come through receiver...

     

    another option is getting a optical/HDMI splitter...

     

    and lastly upgrade the receiver to one that has an HDMI input. I am getting ready to upgrade mine since I want 7.1 and optical doesn't support it...
