I understand that you would like to restrict explicit content in iTunes and not have an effect on your devices. Yes, that is something that you can do.
iTunes on your computer has it's own Parental Controls that is going to be separate from Parental Controls on your iOS device. Because they are independant of each other, this gives you more control on what to limit on what device. Take a look at the links below to walk you through changing those items to restrict explicit content.
