Q: Share function reads "no service" after upgrade to Capitan

Hello,

Since upgrading to El Capitan the share buttons on all applications reads "no service" when clicked upon. After working with Apple trouble shooters using the "chat" service we have managed to get the share button to show many options except Mail. Mail persists in being absent from the share button. We found that if I created a new user account, the button in that new account would show Mail as a share option. So....... does anyone know how to make Mail show as a share option within a specific user?

We have gone through and emptied all folders named "cache". It was after we did that and re-started the computer that the various options showed up but alas not Mail. You should know that Mail does not appear in the extension panel in System Preferences under "Share Menu"

Thanks,

Julian

    Julian,

You are not communicating with Apple, they do not read or participate in these forums. We are all end users just like you!

Hi, Yes, I know this is different from my exchanges with apple but I didn't want to take the time to sit down and engage in another chat which would tie me to the computer for another hour so I thought I would see if any of you could help me in these forums. I guess it did sound like I was carrying on from those chats so thanks for the heads up. I should have made that clear. I have had good help from these forums in the past so I thought I would try again.

Please follow the instructions in this support article. Instead of typing the shell command directed in the article, I suggest that you copy and paste it from the web page into the Terminal window. Make sure you select the whole line. One way to do that is by triple-clicking anywhere in the line.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before proceeding. You may have to log out or restart to see a change.
