New ipone user. trying to find out where on iphone downloads go so i can install them

The ONLY source of apps for an iPhone or iPad is the Apple App Store. You cannot download files from the Internet in Safari or another web browser and install them - iOS will not allow those installations.
When using the App Store, the store's app will handle the download, un-compressing, installation, and subsequent installer cleanup of any downloaded app.
