Group mails to only one address per contact

So I created a group of two contacts on my Mac. Steve has 3 eMail addresses, Phil has 2.

On the Mac, when I create a new eMail and type the name of the group, the mail is addressed to one of Steve's addresses and to one of Phil's addresses (I can choose which one should be used in Address Book > Edit > Distribution List.

This is how it shoud work.

On iOS (both iPhone and iPad) all 5 eMail addresses are added. This is not what I want at all.

Anyone else experiencing this behaviour and a plan how I can fix this?
