App Similar to DiskWarrior?

Is there an application that does the same thing that DiskWarrior 5 does for Mavericks, Yosemite, and El Capitan, but doesn't cost as much?😮

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), mid 2012 Mac Pro

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.

Copy the data to another drive, then erase and reformat the disk.

See mount section in 1st linked article.

similar issue with mounting a ext G-Raid Tech drive to iMac with Sierra 10.12.4 running, not showing up on desktop and not showing in utilities. not a tech guy, so not quite understanding what options I have to get it running again. like the Angel says, Disk Warrior is pricy... I did get utilities to report something which said:

Repairing file system.

File system check exit code is 8.

Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.

An internal error has occurred.

Operation failed...

That's what I got back, since then, not showing up as anything, any help would be appreciated, tks, greg

Yeah

Wow!!!!

Both Micromat TechTool Pro 8 and Alsoft Disk Warrior are NOT cheap any longer for the full, first time purchase.

There " upgrade" pricing used to be the price for THE FULL PRODUCT for both of these for years!

These guys are getting really greedy, now!

It's the same for the a lot of good Mac utiliity products, now.

Bombich's CarbonCopyCloner used to be free/donationware now costs $40

SuperDuper hard drive cloner is $28, now AND THE ONLY USABLE and decent Mac antivirus app, ClamXAV, was free, then $5-$10 for a license is now $30.

There are NO cheaper apps that can replace either Disk Warrior OR Techtool Pro.

Sorry.

😟

Disk Warrior may be useful for data recovery in the event a hard disk drive fails, in which some data will already be irretrievably lost. Failed hard disk drives themselves cannot be repaired, not with Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, or any other software.

A 1 TB external USB hard disk drive costs considerably less than Disk Warrior. As long as you routinely use a backup strategy such as Time Machine, which you already have, "Disk Warrior" cannot possibly convey any additional benefit. What it can do though is to accelerate a hard disk drive's eventual failure by causing needless wear to occur. It is not a prophylactic, nor are there any such things for the Mac. Therefore to answer your question literally, doing "the same thing" can be accomplished by any number of other useless apps, most of which are "free". Read this post for one example: Re: Spinning wheel of death, every application! Many reports similar to it arise on this site every day.

John,

DIsk Warrior is designed strictly as a tool fot correcting any disk/OS X data directory errors.

It is not really a data rescue tool, per se.

Not sure if this is still needed or not with OS X versions Yosemite or El Capitán, but I still use this with previous OS X versions

I have used this program on my Macs for a long time and can be useful if you run into any files or series of files or applications that have somehow become corrupted and can't be read or opened.

This application has on many occassions saved my bacon and brought problem files and/or applications back to life.

I think it is the data cloning process that, from time to time, can AND DOES, introduce such directory errors.

My 2 pence for what it's worth.

😉
