my new ipad mini has no sound

Hi, few months back my hubby bought me a new ipad mini, but due to busy schedule I was not able to check after the setup, till today I was tried to install some apps but realise there's no sound coming out of the ipad. Nothing was plug-in, not set to mute, tried to view some drama, advertisement or play games, but there's still no sound. Tried restarting & reset it, but still no sound., please assist me.
