Q: iPod backup

Hi I'm trying to backup my iPod touch and it keeps saying "iTunes could not back up the iPod "iPod Touch" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPod" Delete the backup for this iPod, then try again. How do I do this using Windows 10. Frustration level= meltdown!
