Q: How do I know if I have icloud for Windows on my PC

How do I know if I have "iCloud for Windows" on my PC? I don't recall installing it, but I do have an iCloud icon on my toolbar that I thought was from iTunes. In the Control Panel see iCloud is listed with it's icon, but nothing for "iCloud for Windows".  Is there something I'm missing. Thanks.

    Hi Fifilulu,

If you see iCloud listed in the Control Panel on your PC, it appears that you've already installed "iCloud for Windows."  The file that would have been downloaded is named icloudsetup.exe.  Here is the latest version of the software:

    Download iCloud for Windows
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204283

Get everything you love, on every device you use

When you download and set up iCloud on your Windows PC, your photos, videos, mail, files, and bookmarks are accessible on all of your devices. If you need help, you can find solutions to common issues or learn more about iCloud for Windows.

    What is iCloud for Windows?

    What is iCloud for Windows?

With iCloud for Windows, you can access your photos, contacts, calendars, documents, and more from any of your devices. iCloud stores your content and automatically keeps it up to date on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC.

What you can do with iCloud for Windows

    • Use My Photo Stream to automatically download any new photos and videos that you take on your iOS devices to your PC. And when you save photos to your My Photo Stream folder from your PC, the photos will automatically appear on your other devices.
    • Use iCloud Photo Sharing to share photos and videos with just the people you choose. Then invite friends to add their own photos, videos, and comments. My Photo Stream automatically downloads the most recent photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your PC.
    • Use iCloud Drive to store any file in iCloud. Simply drag your documents into the iCloud Drive folder on your PC and access them at any time, on any device.
    • Keep your iCloud Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders up to date automatically between your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC.
    • Keep your Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome bookmarks on Windows up to date with your Safari bookmarks.
    • Update your iCloud preferences, see how much iCloud storage you're using, delete items to free up storage, and update your storage plan whenever you want.

Here's what you'll need to use iCloud for Windows

Before you set up iCloud for Windows, you'll need an iCloud account. You can sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID. If you need a new iCloud account, just follow the instructions for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later or Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later.

Depending on what information you want to keep up to date in iCloud, you might need a few other things:

    • Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders: Outlook 2007 through Outlook 2013. Support for Outlook 2016 will be available in an updated release soon. If you use Outlook 2016, you can access iCloud Mail, Contacts, and Calendars on iCloud.com.
    • Microsoft Outlook 2007 or later, or an up to date browser to access iCloud.com.
    • Bookmarks: Safari 5.1.7 or later or Internet Explorer 9 or later.
    • Documents: iCloud Drive set up on each of your devices.

Thanks for your help. I never saw "icloud" in the Control Panel, nor was there the  icloudsetup.exe download file on my PC. In Programs and Features was a list of 5 items that were all Apple. However, there were 3 Apple Support items (one was 32 bit), another was Apple Update, and the last was Bonjour.

As luck would have it, my next Windows Update notified me to update "icloudforwindows". I'm happy to see the iCloud window come up, and I'm somehow still surprised that there is/was never any indication of this infamous "iloudforwindows", I'm just grateful!
