Dec 5, 2015 10:02 AM in response to MDbum80by pinkstones,Why would you want to? Personally, our router is always on. If your computer is turned off when you're not using it, for example, overnight, I don't know why you'd want to turn your router off as well.

Not to mention every time you turn it off you are forcing a hard restart causing it to run through a configuration protocol.

Dec 5, 2015 10:17 AM in response to MDbum80by BobHarris,Most people do not turn off their routers. They are on all the time. Of course many people these days have cell phones that have WiFi and when at home they are using the router for their phones, or iPads, or WiFi enabled TVs, security web cams, etc...
Of course if that is what you want to do, it is your equipment.

Dec 5, 2015 11:53 AM in response to MDbum80by woodmeister50,My cable modem and Airport Extreme Base Station (WiFi router) are both powered 24/7
and are on a UPS, along with my Mac Mini that I use as a server. The modem and
AEBS have been running like this for around 5-6 years.
