Q: what are the valid file types for calendar and contacts in Outlook 2016

what are the valid file types for calendar and contacts in Outlook 2016?

There is a problem getting calendar and contacts from the iPhone or iPad to sync with the Outlook 2016. By most accounts the sync still works for Outlook 2013 and back to 2007. iCloud for Windows version 5 did not make the sync work between Outlook 2016 (365) and the iOS devices. The problem has been approached by many users as a Windows 10 problem or it in combination with Outlook 2016 and iCloud 4 or 5. if Microsoft changed or removed the file types used dy Apple for these features then the ability to cross talk was broken by Microsoft. if so, some sort of file interpolation is needed in iCloud for Windows or Outlook 2016 to make this chatter across iOS and Windows file type in Outlook work.

Can anyone put some light on this as the major problem as to what syncing does not work once Outlook 2016 is installed? When I say Outlook 2016 I am not speaking of Outlook 365 (2013) which is a option to install Office 365 as an upgrade to 2013 or earlier vs. Office 365 (2016) as a fresh or replacement install of Office on a Windows PC. Also, this problem appears to exist in MacBooks also, leading me to further suspect that it is a file type issue created by a change in the Outlook 2016 version.
