Dec 5, 2015 12:36 PM in response to winesipperby stevejobsfan0123,You will need to be more specific than "prevents access to Safari." Does that mean Safari won't open? You see a pop-up that you can't close? Or what? Whatever it is, it doesn't sound like malware.

Dec 6, 2015 10:21 AM in response to winesipperby stevejobsfan0123,Ah, that's what I was guessing. See: A Browser Pop-up has Taken Over Safari. That should clear it up.
(Note that I am affiliated with that site, and some pages contain ads).

Dec 6, 2015 11:12 AM in response to stevejobsfan0123by winesipper,Cudos to you, Stevejobsfan! I followed your procedures and the first few did not work but finally the one with the shift key did the trick and I went further by going into Safari preferences and saw a tab to activate that might help prevent that from happening again. That scammer is clever and clearly had made his hard to remove, but thanks to you, he and it are gone! Hooray!!!
