Q: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

My itunes has been fine. All of a sudden today it's now giving me this error: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

I don't have my firewall turned on. I logged out of itunes, quit itunes, logged back in - still a problem.

Was there an update and this is now a bug? HELP!

Thanks!

same problem here.  Just on my Macbook Pro.  Just really strange.

No peripherals attached everything the same.

Only thing I did was add a new iPad Pro but didn't enter the right iTunes account and now getting the "wait 90 days" error.

    Could that be it?

I doubt it - several people here have changed nothing on their setups and are getting the error message - the variety of different situations points to something at Apple's end, IMHO

I have this same problem.  Oddly, though, the ITunes store will still allow me to make purchases, but I get the same annoying message after every purchase.

I haven't been having any issues with my iTunes, Mac, or wi-fi network at all, but I have received that same error three times in the past week in iTunes for no apparent reason at all:

"iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases. If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443."

Seems like a glitch or something. Nothing seems wrong, but that error comes up..really strange and definitely annoying.

I think it is time for everyone to report/complain to Apple - what is the best way to do that?

I'm having the same issue--on an old MacBook with no peripherals plugged in. Looks like I can play my iTunes store purchases just fine. Tried a few songs--no problems. Weird.

This is interesting -  I installed Java last week and shortly afterwards I started to get intermittent port 443 iTunes errors.

I can log into the iTunes store without any problems. Other than the message window popping up intermittently (which contains a countdown timer indicating the message will disappear in 12 seconds) I have seen no functionality loss.

I checked my /etc/hosts file and there were no "apple" references that needed commenting out.

I would say that is a coincidence of timing - many people here have changed nothing & started to get this message - my wife started getting it two days before me, now we have not seen it for two days. Feels like someone is playing with the switches back at Apple HQ.

Perhaps it is "bring your child to work" week, & one got loose in the iTunes room

I have been having the same problems, I haven't changed anything or made any downloads.

These messages have been coming frequently in my Console over and over again...

"iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases. If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443"

No USB o other periph related.

It's about iTunes or maybe latest java update.

Same problem on a iMac late 2011 that one has the lates java update.

On a Macbook Pro mid 2012 not did the java update yet iTunes is ok , no errors.

I guess you know that port 443 (aka HTTPS) is used for uploading.
