Q: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

My itunes has been fine. All of a sudden today it's now giving me this error: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

I don't have my firewall turned on. I logged out of itunes, quit itunes, logged back in - still a problem.

Was there an update and this is now a bug? HELP!

Thanks!

Since receiving the error message, any purchased video content from iTunes, movies or TV shows, only play black with no sound.

ugh. the clear cache thing works, briefly. I re-started, and the error is back.

    dammit.

Ditto on problem.  Not sure but I just went into 'Preferences', 'Store' and unchecked "Share details aout your libraary with Apple', and changed 'Purchases' to "Require after 15 Minutes' - seemed to work.  Turned off/on a few times, let it run, and so far no problems.

Same problem since 12-9-15.  Two Macbook Pro's running 10.11.2, iTunes 12.3.1.23.  I have tried 3 different locations, all wifi, and two different providers.

Firewall software turned off.  Same result for all combinations, port 443 error.

I suspect this is an Apple problem that they will address shortly (fingers crossed).

contacted them again to have a record of the issue and the albums missing that I paid for.

Please all do that to let them know multiple people are having issues with this.

The music showed up like it did after yesterday's contact but won't let me download it.

    VERY FRUSTRATING

I'm on Yosemite and I'm having the same problem. On top of the firewall message, all the music under My Music is gone, including songs actually on my computer. I still have my files, and the file locations haven't changed.  I haven't changed any settings or done anything for something like that to have happened. Come on Apple

Just started happening to me as well today, very random but annoying.  Systems won't connect to my iCloud library (bolt through cloud).  I will say Comcast is having issues in my area this evening.

    All Systems running iTunes 12.3.1

Win 7 64 Ultimate Tower  (Main Home for my Library) = System having issues connecting to my iCloud Library but it does work most of the time.

Win 10 Pro (Lenovo Idea Pad) = iTunes opens but can't connect to the store or my library absolutely nothing working

Win 10 Pro (Lenovo T540p) = Library was in sync as of 11 am this morning but I haven't check it since i left work.

iPhone 6s iOS 9.2 iCloud is working fine my whole library of 35k songs streams fine on Wifi or LTE

Considering this is happening on both Windows and OSX based systems with iTunes 12.3.1 I have to think something is up with Apple.  ESPECIALLY considering they just upped the iTunes Match limits across the board.  Someone I know was also saying facetime was acting strangely this evening.

We may be running into the issue that a thread includes several related, but different problems.

The only problem I have is seeing the spurious iTunes cannot connect message. Everything else about iCloud and iTunes is working normally.

i think the el capitan recovery update from today (11 december) may have fixed the issue.  after downloading it, i am no longer getting the firewall message (although it was not popping up as often on my screen in the past day or so), and it appears that i am finally able to view my rented movies (rather than a black screen with time ticking away along the bottom of the screen).  a bit too afraid about testing it out and clicking on another rented movie as i am about to go out for the day, but am hopeful that this is finally the fix we have all been wanting!

i did have to contact apple several times because of the expiring unwatchable rental, and they put it back in my queue on 2 separate occasions.

the error I was seeing no longer shows.. the firewall error

But the purchased music doesn't show in my Music Library

tried to download and it is still not working

keeping this thread going until we find a fix

My firewall error disappeared this morning when I launched iTunes.  I launched and relaunched and rebooted and relaunched and it seems like it's gone.

As a side note, if you have Little Snitch running make sure to entirely disable the network filter when launching iTunes.  Don't assume that you have the rules setup properly. You can re-enable it after your iTunes is functioning properly.
