Q: deleting photos

Okay so here is what i want to do. I want to have say the last year of photos on my phone and the rest in the cloud. I have both my mac and iPhone using iCloud photo library. If I delete a photo off my phone it says it is deleted from all my accounts. Would this delete the pic off of the mac also? I don't want to lose any of my older pics. I want to have a back up of all my pictures not tied to the cloud. Then have all my pics in the cloud. Then only have the last 6 months on my phone. Is there anyway to accomplish this?

Yes - you can turn off iCloud Photo Library on the phone (Settings>iCloud>Photos), and then sync the selected photos to the phone via iTunes.

Would I need to manualy sync to the mac then? Will the photos I take on the phone upload to the cloud?

You would have to automatically sync to the Mac to get the selected photos to your phone.

But, I'm fairly certain that if you have Photo Stream turned on on your device, those photos will continue to be uploaded to the iCloud Photo Library (not sure if that happens directly, or via your Mac which would have iCloud Photo Library enabled).

Once synced to the Photos application, the photos will be in iCloud.
