Q: This iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed.....I'm stuck and so frustrated!

I've been working on this for a LOOOONG time.  As in several weeks.  I've combed the archives and tried fixes repeatedly, following the instructions to the letter - but they don't fix anything.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled, removed apple files, used WinRAR, used an authentic apple cord and so on.  What I need is someone to help me get through this before I go back to the dark ages and toss all technology in the trash.

I recently installed Windows 10 but the problem goes back before that.  We just got our phones upgraded but can't sync.  My last sync was in May.

Help a girl out please?  I'm fairly computer literate and can follow directions but I'm frustrated and so ****** right now!  Thanks in advance!!!

    Hey empathicheart,

I see you are a new user here in Apple Support Communities - welcome! I hope we find you contributing often in the future.

It sounds like you are getting an error message on your computer saying that you need a newer version of iTunes software in order to use your iPhone. Is that correct?

You do not mention what version of iTunes you have installed, but you can get the latest version by going to this page, downloading and installing it - iTunes - Download iTunes Now - Apple

If you have issues with installing the updated version of iTunes, use the steps in this article to troubleshoot- If you can't install or update iTunes for Windows.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Happy computing.

I'm running 12.3.1.23.  My iOS is 9.1.  Everything is current.

But - I solved my own problem.  Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was missing.  I reinstalled it after dragging it from WinRAR to my desktop and it's working fine.  Not sure why it hasn't installed the mutitude of times I've reinstalled iTunes.
