Ipod classic didn't work? Would the Ipod 4th gen (click wheel) work?

Hey,

So, my father has agreed to give me the ipod 4th gen and I couldn't be more thrilled. However, I do not want to build sandcastles just yet! I tried connecting an ipod classic to my mac and the itunes did not not recognise it. Do you think I'll face the same problem on this? Is there anyone who has been able to find a hack as to how to make an ipod 4th gen (click wheel) work seamlessly? I would be very very thankful to you, if you can. Thanks!

My 4th gen "old school" iPod works fine with the latest iTunes (on my Mac running the latest OS). No "hacks" needed. I like these older iPods, with monochrome screen, because all they do is play audio. And they are really good at doing that one thing - excellent sound quality.

Now, what's wrong with that iPod classic...? Obviously, it should work too.
