Smart Keyboard doesn't work while using Citrix Receiver

have iPad Pro and recently bought the Smart Keyboard. when I logged into virtual session for work through Citrix Receiver, the keyboard stopped working... what is the issue. Travelling alot for work and the whole reason I got the iPad Pro and keyboard was to have easier interface to type instead of the built in keyboard via the app. What gives?
