That should not be the cause (your iPhone can connect to both a Bluetooth headset and Apple Watch at the same time).
Check that you have enabled Location Services.
- On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > check that Location Services is turned on (green slider at the top).
- On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services (at the bottom of the list) > check that Motion Calibration & Distance is turned on.
Check that your watch is connected to your iPhone:
- On your watch, swipe up on the watch face, then swipe left / right until you find the Settings glance. This should say Connected and show a green iPhone icon to indicate that it is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth.
If these settings are already correct, it may help to restart both your iPhone and your watch. Turn both devices off together first, then restart your iPhone before restarting your watch:
- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
- To turn it on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
