Disney infinity base not recognizing playset piece?

HI guys. So I got the Disney infinity 3.0 starter pack. I'm new to Disney infinity don't know how it works at all but I noticed that... When I put the character to play it does show up and the circle changes color, now the problem is when I put the twilight of the republic set piece on the base nothing happens, is like the base is not reading it at al....

am I doing something wrong? I first launche the game then connected the base to the wall and the game did read it and all.. do you think the set piece is a defective one?

let me know what you guys think or if I'm doing something wrong. I really thought that by putting that set piece on the base that's the title twilight of the republic was going to appear on the main menu list.

do you think Apple exchanges defective games? Is the first time I buy something like this from Apple so I do not know their return exchange polIcy. Couldnt find anything about it on their website.
