Go to the App Store. Type ".rar" in search bar. There are dozens of Free Extractors. Look around and do some Google research for the one you're interested in. I do not have a personal recommendation, sorry. I can say that the file extractors that can do .zip, .rar, .gzip and .tgz will be the ones worth looking into.

"The Unarchiver" will open .rar and is free on the Mac App Store.
