Q: Is there a SSD drive in the Time Capsule ME177Z/A ?
I am thinking about buying a time capsule (and not a Synology NAS). However the NAS has two advantages:
- SSD Drive => Speed
- 2 drive for borrowing => Safety
If the speed of the drives are the same, I will go for the TC as it should be easier.....
Thanks

The TC uses a Seagate standard spinning drive..
Almost all NAS will use spinning drives.. SSD are far too expensive and data has limited write lifespan.. unlike magnetic drives which can continually write for years..
However very fast NAS do use SSD as cache to speed up transfers.. any decent hard drive can now reach 150MB/s which exceeds gigabit. That is without SSD.. it is not needed.
TC is slow.. much slower than a decent NAS.
I posted some speeds recently. The TC is processor bound.
