Q: File Copy - Replace/Merge New Issue
One of our users has reported that when he copies files to the server it is not working properly as I will explain:
The server is mounted via AFP running windows server 2008 and Extremez IP. The user is using a new Powermac (dustbin type) with Yosemite on board, its fully up to date with updates.
The user pulls a whole folder off the server to work on the artwork files locally then copies the whole folder back to the server. Usually this will overwrite the copy on the server with the updated folder. This is what we want to happen. (a message will appear saying "A folder of the same name already exists, do you want to overwrite or cancel")
Lately the user is getting a message saying the folder already exists do you want to overwrite or MERGE the folder.
If you choose overwrite, it doesn't copy the folder across properly. It is not adding the updated files. The process finishes very quickly with no progress indicator bar.
If you choose merge it does work but this is not what we have previously been doing and the worry is that it is not REPLACING the folder as instructed.
Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated
