It sounds as though you're trying to configure your devices to use the features provided by Continuity. Fortunately we've an article that details, step-by-step, how to get Continuity and its various features setup on your devices.
Sincerely

Dec 9, 2015 5:27 AM in response to Allen Aby dansavol,it is not a continuity issue. when I create/receive an iMessage on my iPhone, I can generally see those messages on my iPad or MacBook. However, in some cases that does not happen. For example, there a few specific phone numbers that I "iMessage with" on my iPhone but cannot communicate with on my MacBook.
However, I've done some more research and in my settings/imessage i enabled text messaging forwarding. That seems to be working but am not sure that is the only solution as I seem to have the desired issue with other numbers on a sporadic basis. Still looking for suggestions.
