Q: Set volume on the aTV4

I have my aTV4 connected to a monitor with speakers and would like to set the sound volume with the aTV4 remote. The monitor has not Bluetooth so the aTV4 should control the volume. But how do I do that?

There is no solution. When I select 'Learn new device" and go thru the motions (using the aTV remote) then when playing the volume does not change at all.

I need a way to set it so that the remote controls the volume within the aTV not using the display device. Additional info: the display device does not offer (adequate) volume control. It just produces the sound offered by the aTV. Also noCEC or whatever.

What I need is similar to the old aTV2/3 where the remote also controlled the volume.

The ATV has no "volume" itself.  Well, you can "reduce loud sounds" but that's the extent. Volume is controlled by the TV or an audio receiver/soundbar...

"If your set does not support HDMI-CEC, you're out of luck on automatic input, volume and power control from the Apple TV, unfortunately. You'll probably be able to fill the gap with a universal remote, like Logitech's Harmony series."

Universal remote is not going to solve because the display device has NO IR or whatsoever.

Apple has done a very very stupid thing by removing an option that the older aTV's had. Simple control the volume within the aTV.

This is really stupid: a device costing 229 Euros and it cannot even control the volume. How stupid can a developer get??????? All media players and similar that I know and have now had this option. Apple TV is a lousy product that should have never reached the market.

I'mquite satisfied with the upgrade on version 4. I can't imagine many users haing as unique setup as you.  It's designed as a media streaming device for televisions, not necessarily monitors.  Though since all consumers have varying needs, we can weigh the pros and cons to see when an upgrade meets our personal needs.  Just because an upgrade is available doesn't mean we have to upgrade - it may not be worth it based upon how individuals use it...

I do not think my setup is very extraordinary. Also on the aTV1, aTV2, aTV3, any other brand media player I can control the Mediaplayer/aTV from the controller of the MP/aTV independent of the display device.

So can anyone give me a single good reason why some Apple developer (which in my opinion is not worth that title) decided to leave this out?

Being that this is a user community, no one can answer for Apple (or their developers)...

You can contact Apple support as well as send feedback so that Apple is aware of your issues

Just did sent my problem to Apple. However I do not have much trust in it. I've in other cases never had the feeling that is was handled seriously.
