Q: Using Apple Watch for Fitness

Just wanted people's opinion's really.

I like the Apple Watch and I am looking to get one, mainly for the workout/fitness function. I just wondered how people have found this?

Is there a way to view all your previous workouts or are there any god apps that you'd recommend to use with it.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi

Apple Watch includes two health and fitness apps: the Activity app and the Workout app.

Workouts that you record via the Workout app can be viewed in the companion Activity app on your iPhone, which records your complete activity history.

For more information about the built-in fitness apps and their features, see:

I have tried a couple of the 3rd party apps but I continue to use the built in workout app.  It meets my needs and it does a pretty good job of tracking it in the activity app on the iPhone.  I wish it could let me edit or update my mileage with the stationary bike without having to delete it and then add a new data point but other than that it has worked the best.  I did try the Under Armour app and it does a pretty good job but the included workout app stays on your screen so when you lift your arm you can see a couple of screens.  I usually keep it on the heart rate screen so I can make sure I keep my HR up.  But it defaults to the last screen you were looking at in the workout app.  I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your comments, that does help. Just one more thing, if you're wearing the watch does it update your "health" app? For example calories from exercise or heart rate etc?

Health and fitness data from Apple Watch, iPhone and any other sources that you may add over time (eg blood pressure monitor, scales, etc) is aggregated within the Health app on iPhone. Combined data is reflected in the Health app Dashboard, which also adjusts results (eg number of steps taken) to avoid any double counting of data from different sources.

I have the Watch and yes, it does update the iPhone's Health app. I think the workout tracking is great, but starting a workout uses the heart rate sensor, which drains the battery faster. I usually don't even use the workouts when I exercise-I just let it track me automatically.
