Q: download button doesn't "click"

so I have been trying this for a few weeks. I get to the download button on the El Capitan page - I click it and it doesn't respond. I want to upgrade and I get nothing. any help please....

 

 

running Yosemite 10.10.5

mac, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

    Hello drosz22,

    That is an interesting issue as to why your unable to download OS X El Capitan from the Mac App Store. Let' see if we can that downloaded for you. 

    The first thing I would try is Safe Mode. Restart your Mac and hold the Shift key until you see the Apple Logo. Once you are able to log in, try downloading OS X El Capitan. If it works, then restart your computer and run the installer. It would have downloaded to your Applications folder or you can look in LaunchPad. 

    If it doesn't work, try downloading it in a different user on your Mac. The article below will talk to both options as troubleshooting issues with software on your Mac.

    thank you, thank you.... a thousand times thank you!

     

    putting it into safe mode cured the problem! I was able to download El Capitan and all the upgrades that go with it. going on 12 hours and the system seems to be running a lot better than Yosemite. the REAL test will to see how the advanced iTunes works.
