Q: Can't set up initial network connection

I can't get past the Select Your Wi-Fi Network on my new Mac Book. I have my MacBook Pro sitting right next to it. I know the network (my house) and password. My MBP is connected just fine. On the Mac Book, I'm selecting the network with a return, and typing in the password then hitting a return. The Mac Book just gets the spinning circle saying looking for network. I even tired going to other and typing in the name and password. It put me to the next screen to transfer info. I said no, and then I tried to go forward but when I type my apple id and password in, it says server error in red and to try again. I know those are correct also because I signed into icloud on my MBP to confirm I wasn't making a mistake.

I've reset the router, restarted computers, nothing is working. I've spent two hours and my PC loving hubby is just laughing. Any suggestions on what I can try next?

I also tried using a personal hotspot from my iPhone. Still can't connect. I don't know why it's saying solved, because I'm not and can't figure out how to uncheck that. My teenager also tried and got the same results as me.
