I need to restore the iPhone but need to keep the recent texts and phone calls.
Also, do settings become saved as well?

Texts are preserved in iTunes or iCloud backups, but telephone call history is not.
You might contact your cellular carrier for a history of previously made telephone calls.

Unless something's changed, I've restored from backups and always get my recent phone call history back. If it makes any difference, I always backup to my computer, which is more comprehensive than an iCloud backup.
Ah, OK. Personally I have never cared about a phone call history being saved on an iPhone. If ever I needed that information, I would get it from the cellular carrier's website.
SInce this article suggests data stored in other cloud services is not backed up, I assumed that applied to phone call history. Sorry about misinforming and appreciate the information.
