The model and build number on the outside of the case should be adequate

to identify the general build series and perhaps narrow down the field some.

How to find the serial number of your MacBook Pro - Apple Support

How to identify MacBook Pro models - Apple Support

The batteries are harder to replace and the Apple Store does not stock old

model replacements -- some online sources offer them, but are rarer now.

Your MacBook Pro is one of the models shown in this iFixit repair guide page:

    https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro

All MacBook Pro specifications across all models (yours likely is Unibody

aluminum without retina display, pre 2012 build, with removable battery)

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/index-macbookpro.html#specs

The battery has to be removed and any liquids wiped up, and someone who

knows how to correctly neutralize any battery chemicals, and perhaps fix the

bent case somewhat to put a new battery inside, would be the ideal person.

Once the battery is removed, if things are OK at that point, if the MacBook/Pro

can start up from the MagSafe Adapter, the processor inside won't work at

the former full speed, the computer will slow to about 50% of CPU capacity.

So it is well advised to acquire a new replacement battery.

The swollen or exploded battery issue has occurred on occasion across a

few different models, and similar causes (or weakness, age, or situations

where heat build-up or computer turning on from sleep mode, in blanket

or where air won't ventilate) have been some reasons for their leaking.

You could take the computer to an Authorized Apple service provider that

is not an Apple Store and they may be able to order a replacement battery

and while there, remove the swollen battery. Or read about other incidents

online, a few YouTube videos exist and can be found via search where the

owners with this issue have posted their experience & what they did, online.

Several models has similar occurrence of this, so the online finding

may vary across whatever was reported, and where.

Places such as powerbookmedic.com may offer replacement batteries, the

iFixit.com guide to repair MacBook Pro may show the part and number,

at times their site will offer part numbers and a price.

The average lifespan for these consumables is up to two or maybe four years.

So they do not get better with age; they're like produce in the grocery store.
