My new Macbook Air (13-inch, Early 2014)

Serial Number: C1MNJ11KG085

Ok so I haven't turned it on yet because I am still waiting for time capsule to back up but this is the technical page for my new one> MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) - Technical Specifications

I'm assuming this won't work anyway, but I thought I might as well confirm since I JUST got new RAM. Also, isn't this more of a downgrade? It sounds to me like it's going to be a lot slower, not hold as much memory, it's fragile as heck, etc.

Don't do it! You should not mess around with a new computer. That RAM will not work in any case.

Old one. Type: DDR3 Speed: 1067 MHz

New one. 1600MHz LPDDR3

Be happy with what you have😝

Edit. Also, the new one's specs say onboard memory, which means soldered to the logic board. So, to upgrade to 8 gb would not be something you can do easily.

That would be good for the holidays.

The reason I felt like it was a downgrade because my sister has the exact same one and I watch her have a lot of problems playing video games, something I do regularly (why I got extra RAM on my current one) I'm a person who likes to do many many things at once 😝

edit: Alright so this topic is mostly the fact that I'm not sure if I should hold on to it for whenever my macbook does eventually break down the same way my iphone does, or to regift it to a family member (who happens to have a very bad computer that needs to be replaced. Might just give it to them instead). This thread got really off-topic, sorry about that!

Meaning you got new RAM for the Macbook Pro and installed it? How many GBs do you have now?

Don't worry about off topic. Aren't we all?😉

Seems a shame to not use the Macbook Air. You could use it for stuff other than gaming.

Anyway, good luck and a Happy Christmas and New Year!

For months on end, I wanted to improve my RAM, but I put it off because it's not cheap. After debating for a while, I upgraded my RAM for my old macbook because I thought "wow this will be nice upgrade and treat for myself!" and then got a macbook air right afterward, making the purchase feel like a waste of money after I spent so much time thinking about it 😝 Kind of just a "oh jeez" moment.
