Check that the back of your Apple Watch and the concave head of the charging cable are each clean and dry (clean them with a lint-free cloth and retry).

If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch and/or power accessories checked under warranty.
