Uneven length nano earbuds?

I just received my 8GB Nano and i noticed that the earbuds that came with the unit are uneven in length- the left side is about an inch longer then the right side. I'm just wondering if this was normal for the new styled earbuds. Thanks.

I just contacted the apple telephone customer service and they were not able to tell me whether or not the earbuds are supposed to be unequal in legnth, so i just asked about having a replacement earbud set sent to me. He told me i would have to fill out the form online to have the part warrantied.

I was just about done filling out the form when i noticed your reply. Now i'm wondering if this is normal or not.

One person has equal lengthed earbuds for their nano so far, and two people do not [including myself], both of which came with the 8GB nano.

More input would be appreciated.

Because this question peaked some curiosity in me I called my friend who also has an 8gb nano (her house has 3; her older sister and her niece also have 8gb) and the answer on their end is that their earbuds are all even in length. She did state that her niece earbuds cord length is about an inch shorter than hers and her sisters but it is still even as far as the right and left earbud cord length for it. I know a lot of people personally that have the new nano but none of them post on this forum so I'm not sure if my poll is something you consider helpful. Just thought I would share that info with you. Are you experiencing any problems with the earbuds or is it purely a cosmetic issue that annoys you? (Nothing wrong with that of course...I'm sure alot of people would be bothered by something like this even if it didn't have any audio problems associated with it. I'm just curious).

If they are uneven, they may actually hang better if you have the iPod on one side or the other as opposed to directly in the middle front or back of your body.

Is it a problem? Do they work okay or are they too short (not simply shorter) to where they get pulled out if you put the iPod in your pocket?

It is mostly a cosmetic issue with me. But to note, when you slide the slide-adjuster up towards the earbuds, like for instance when you want the earbuds tight to your face while working out, then when you slide the slider back down to the bottom of the cord the longer side of the cord gets caught up in a loop because of the unequal lengths. Then you'll have to unslide it again, pull the longer cord, and then carefully slide the slider back down to the bottom position- a bit of an inconvenience if you ask me. I was expecting a bit more quality from apple for a $250 "memory" device.

Because of the unequal lengths, it hangs dominantly to the right side. I guess it's ok for right handed people, which i am, but then again, i prefer to hold the nano in my left hand.

There's nothing wrong with the sound quality. I actually believe these earbuds sound better then my previous mini's.

Some earphones are made specifically to be uneven on purpose. The longer wire is supposed to drape around the back your neck. I don't know the point behind it, to be honest.

Also, the earphones I got with my iPod are even too, so it could be a mistake, or there might be nothing wrong with them at all and they've decided to give different earphones.

The ones that came with my 4 GB 2nd Gen Nano are exactly the same on both sides.

I bought a Panasonic pair that are about 6 inches longer on the right. They stay put (in my ear) better than the Apple earbuds, but they don't sound as good.

I had to actually go open mine because I don't use them...I use a different pair. They are exactly the same length for me.

I haven't measured mine, but I also have an 8gb and the headphones seem to have uneven lengths.

i hjave a 4gb 2gen nano-the earphones are equal in length.
however, after scouring the web, ive noticed a few complaints about the same problem(not too many though)
