    Do you have a balance on your account that covers the book's price plus any applicable taxes ? If not then the organiser's card will be used for its purchase (you can't use a credit or debit on your account whilst in family sharing)

    Thanks for the response.  I do have sufficient balance for the purchase plus tax, etc.  I extracted myself from the Family Share option, but was still unable to access my balance.  I tried the same action on my iPad and was able to execute the transaction without any hassle.  I can't seem to set the account on my computer to go to my iTunes gift card balance, but it works on my iPad!
