Q: Airplay and IOS Keynote fullscreen issue

I'm experiencing a issue when trying to display a Keynote presentation from an iOS (version 9.1) device on my Apple TV via Airplay.

I'm running the Apple TV on a 16:9 screen and have created a Keynote presentation also in 16:9 format. It works OK however when the Keynote presentation has a large boarder around it as if it's only running at 720 rather than 1280.

However if I play a video using iMovie or via the photos app it runs full screen, whats more if I export the Keynote presentation to Powerpoint and run it on the Powerpoint iOS app it displays it full screen!

Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this?

Thank you.

On an iPad Air running iOS 9.2, I observe  similar behavior -- but only on the iPad screen, not when using AirPlay mirroring to AppleTV. Unlike OS X Keynote, iOS Keynote has no preference option for "Scale slideshow to fit the display". Photo images imported into iOS Keynote are not scaled and there's often a big black border when playing the slideshow on the iOS device.

However if played over AirPlay to an AppleTV via mirroring, it does appear to mostly scale to the screen size on the AirPlay-connected display.

Another post says if connecting via HDMI instead of AirPlay, it is not scaled: Output to HDTV not full screen through Apple lightening to hdmi adapter from Keynote on iPad mini retina

I have not tested that but if so it's unfortunate there is so little control over this critical area of a presentation program. This is one reason why people keep using laptops instead of tablets.

There are also no Apple KB articles, help files or documentation on this, so it is a double failure.

Similar problems but not quite the same. I have an iPad Pro that I use for presentations and the ability to write on the iPad and share on the screen. The appleTV is a 3rd gen running 7.2.1 and set to 1280x1024. it is connected to a Hitachi Projector.

The iPad Pro when mirrored does not fill the screen. The screen is distorted and does not stretch horizontally to fill the screen. It is in fact compressed horizontally. However, both keynote and powerpoint have separate presentation modes. When you start the presentation it fills the screen and is not distorted. The presenter notes screen appears on the iPad. Both theses apps, however, have very primitive annotation abilities (in power point writing with the pen appears to be broken) compared to applications like OneNote, Paper, or EverNote. These apps, however, do not fill the screen and don't appear to be aware of a "special presentation mode."

This is not true when I mirror from my iPhone 6 plus. In landscape mode my phone fills the screen no mater what I am displaying.

So it appear the capability is there but the iPad implementation is broken.
