Dec 9, 2015 8:13 AM in response to smiley1083by Duane,You can use a flash drive. Insert the flash drive into the source MacBook. Copy the file to the flash drive. Then insert the flash drive into the destination MacBook and copy the file from the flash drive.
If the MacBooks are on the same network you can use File Sharing. See How to connect with File Sharing on your Mac - Apple Support
If you use an online file sharing such as Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. you can drag the file from the source MacBook to the file sharing site. Then on the destination MacBook drag the file from the file sharing site.

Dec 9, 2015 9:40 AM in response to smiley1083by dwb,Duane has you covered on the how-to but I'll add a footnote since which method you choose might depend on the circumstances and how often you need to copy files between computers.
If this is something you'll do every once in a while a flash drive or even emailing the file(s) as an attachment are probably the most convenient. File sharing is also a great method and is convenient for both the occasional transfer and frequent transfer. However if this is something you'll do frequently using a cloud service like DropBox is probably the better choice because you don't have to remember anything. These online services use a program that operates in the background to copy the files for you. All you do is save the file and it is synced to the other computer. DropBox has totally changed how I use my work and personal computers to the extent that I no longer carry a notebook computer between home and work. I can stop working and save a file at one location and pick up where I left off on the other.
