Heres the deal, ever since I updated to OSX El Capitan, my youtube player when clicked to go on fullscreen does this weird thing where the title goes fullscreen, and the screen is majorly black, all the buttons are at the bottom, I can still watch the videos, but I actually want them in full screen.

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
1. Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box beside "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
2. Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Click the âDetailsâ button.
Remove all cookies except ones from Apple, your internet service provider and banks.
3. Disable Extensions and test.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Uncheck boxes beside âEnable Extensionâ and test.
Enable Extensions one by one and test.
To uninstall any extension, select it and click the âUninstallâ button.
I tried all those steps and sadly they didn't work.
I moved the com.apple.Safari.plist to my desktop, and reopened safari, and then it worked.
But I don't have my bookmarks when I do that
same issue here.
using safari 9.0.2 with macbook pro mid 2015 retina.
any other suggestions there?
The only workaround I've found is to repetitively try double clicking the video to fullscreen and un-fullscreen, after about 3/4 times it'll fullscreen properly.
I would love to know of a permanent workaround if someone has one.
I've found a reliable way to workaround it: fullscreen the video normally, the pause the video and resume it.
Can't explain why but that seems to fix it for now until Youtube or Apple fix it properly.
You can try pausing the video and play it again (or pressing spacebar twice). This works for me, but I have to do this every time I watch a new video.
Yep. Pausing or switching to another video resolution helps. But still "What the **** Apple?".

clicking somewhere inside the screen is the workaround. so the video stops and resumes and the screen will switch into fullscreen.
i feel more and more annoying about the usability of apple products đ
Apple doesnât routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.
Dominic, I have no Extension choices as you describe in Safari 9.0.2.
I, too, cannot get full screen video after upgrading to the latest Safari version.
Please, what else have you done to get full screen back?
