Smart Keyboard - French setting with QWERTY layout

I have a brand new Smart Keyboard.

All my devices are set up in English US with American keyboards.

As I need to write in French pretty often as well as in German, I've set up my iDevices with 2 additional keyboards, French/QWERTY and German/QWERTY to benefit from predicitive typing in each language with a consistent keyboard layout.

But… It just doesn't work with the smart keyboard!!!

Whatever I do, when I try to switch the keyboard to French, the layout switches to AZERTY and for German to QWERTZ…

Sorry but it makes the keyboard pretty unusable for typing in multiple languages, and my iPad Pro suddenly becomes a big iPad toy and not a replacement for my MacBook Pro.

If anybody knows how to fix it I would be really thankful.

If nobody knows, please Apple, fix it as soon as possible. I'm a fan and real Apple addict, but I'm only a fan of great amazing products. And this not a new experience, it's not the future, it's a non working expensive product!

You will have to check your setting for Hardware Keyboard for Hungarian. Settings for Hardware keyboard are separate from those for the screen keyboard. There may be a setting for Hungarian Qwerty. If not, then there is really nothing you can do other than use ABC Extended, which is qwerty but quite different for accented characters, or ask Apple to add Hungarian Qwerty in a future update, via

Hi, I'm glad your reply helps others but unfortunately my problem persists. I use the Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro.

The issue: in certain foreign keyboard layouts (like German or Hungarian and probably many others) the y and the z are switched. I want to use the qwerty layout in foreign languages. However, when I pick in Settings > General > Keyboards > Hungarian (qwerty), it reverts back to the qwertz layout when typing on the Smart Keyboard. The qwerty layout is correct when I use the on-screen keyboard.

Any ideas?

Picking the ABC Extended layout I don't get the Hungarian accents at all, even though it switch to the Hungarian keyboard layout from English. So that's obviously a bug, ABC Extended doesn't do anything.

It's not a bug, just (as I said) quite different, you have to use option key shortcuts for accented characters. A list of them is at
