Why does iMovie 10.1 suck so bad?

I basically can't do anything with it. All of my editing options are greyed out--can't adjust speed, color balance, stabilization, filter...nothing. Looked at some legacy solutions for this problem and discovered that there's no "wrap timeline" now either. User uploaded file

Looking to switch back to iMovie 9 unless someone can explain this...

Editing options that are not relevant to the currently selected clip are greyed out. In your timeline you have selected the only item, a title. Consequently only the title editing options are available. If you put a video clip or still into the timeline a select that, appropriate editing options will be available.

I recommend reading the help files for iMovie 10.1. They are accessible from the help menu or online at: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.1/

imovie 10 is a complete rewrite of iMovie so and the user interface is very different. Most features are still present and there are new capabilities, You are correct that wrap timeline is no longer available.

Yea, I guess that's the point. I remember being able to slow down/speed up title scenes when using iMovie only a couple months ago. It seems like a very relevant editing option to me. But I guess Apple decided that you should only be able to edit the text. I suppose that changed after the "upgrade" to 10.1. Also the help menu did not explain why this feature is no longer available, which is what I'd really like to know. Seems like they keep taking away features with every new edition.

However, I was able to fix the problem myself by switching to a windows computer and downloading Windows Movie Make 2.6--works great.
