corrupted migration from iPhoto to Photos

please help me!

I have an iMac 10.10.5 OS X Yosemite 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Photos version 1.0.1 (215.65.0). I agreed to migrate from iPhoto version 9.61 (910.42). When it was finished migrating I had 61000 some photos even though I only had 13000 to start with. It added thousands of nonsense photos like logos and arrows, resourse crap, lots of button like pictures saying gift, view, mov, etc. plus pictures of signs like Mastered for iTunes, Classical, Books, etc. etc, etc. Tried to delete them, tried to go to restore the computer to an earlier day but it just won't go away and is using a significant amount of space!!!! What do I do?

if i go to my list of the applications in my iMac and look at the contents of Photos is shows Resources, version.plist, XPCServices, code signature. It seems like it turned all these things into pictures and included them in my library.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Photos and iphotos

What seems to have happened is that you imported the iPhoto application to Photos, not the iPhoto library. That would explain all the icons you are seeing in Photos.

You are looking at the inside of the Photos application, not the Photos library.

What you need to do is to find your iPhoto Library. By default it will be in your Pictures folder, looking like this:

User uploaded file

Drag the iPhoto Library onto the Photos icon in the Dock. Photos will open the library and create a converted Photos library. Check, if all the photos you want are there. If yes, you can delete the erranoiusly created library with all the icons.
