Q: My iMac won't let me install a Quark update for MacOS that I downloaded from quark.com. It says The QuarkXPress installer can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer. How do I install this Quark update to my purchased software?

My iMac iOS 10.9.5 won't let me install a MacOS Quark update that I downloaded from quark.com. It says The QuarkXPress installer can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer. I have Quark 8.02 and need to install the 8.5 update. How do I install this Quark update?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    You either have a bogus kit, or the folks at Quark haven't signed their kit.   You'll want to report this to the folks at Quark.

     

    To override what Gatekeeper has found and open an unsigned application, control-click on the application, and select Open.

    Hi Cheddar,

     

    QuarkXPress 8 was released in 2008. Since then Apple has changed the keys necessary for GateKeeper several times.

     

    Please continue as suggested by MrHoffman, right click the installer and choose "open" and confirm the exception.

     

    Please note that QuarkXPress 8 is not supported under OS X 10.9.5 though. However, it should run ok with minor flaws.
