How do I delete Parallels from my OS

I have moved away from Quicken and now will be able to get rid of Parallels Desktop on my MacBook Pro.

How best to remove Parallels and Windows 7 from my OS? My desire is to remove Parallels and Windows 7 and its applications totally.

The Parallels web site has two sets of instructions, one for removing the virtual machine and the another for removing Parallels Desktop.

I also have Clean My Mac 3. Not sure where to start to get a clean removal.

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

And, if I remove Parallels, don't I need to remove the virtual machine as well?

Search this forum using the search field at the upper right of this page for cleanmymac then decide if you want to keep using it. Here are the search results to help you out:

The virtual machine is just a file. Delete it as you would delete any file.

I purchased Quicken for Mac 2016. It is a stripped down version of Quicken that has no annual budgeting capabilities, no memorized transactions, etc. It is basically a check register with limited investment capabilities. I am finding that I can use it, even with the limitations if l lower my expectations. I am so relieved to get out of the Parallels and Window environment that I have been using for years. I did find the conversion of my Quicken for Windows file to Quicken for Mac was accurate, after I figured out how to use Quicken's converter.

Historically, Intuit's releases of Quicken versions for the Mac have not kept pace with the features of its Windows versions. This has been a source of frustration in the Mac Quicken user community for many years.

Intuit appears to be starting to close the gap, with new features added to Quicken 2016 for Mac and has this survey page for additional features from the Windows version to add to the Mac version (Go down to: "Vote for your favorite new feature")

.

Perhaps the trend of adding new features to the Mac version will continue if enough people answer this survey:

I have been using Quicken for Mac 2016 for one week and I am OK with it. Frustrated at times, having to find work-arounds for things that were easy in Quicken for Windows. Still, I think it is better than having to deal with Parallels and Windows. Caveat: I am not tracking any investment accounts, primarily checking and savings accounts. And, I DO NOT allow Quicken to download my personal account data. I don't trust Quicken with my financial information.

I agree with you about that!

I have been using QIF files from my financial institution's websites to import manually into Quicken 2007 for Mac, which is what I have been using for years. It does not add all that much work to my monthly workflow in Quicken and gives me peace of mind to not give a piece of software access to all of my financial accounts.

With my recent acquisition of and commencement of experimentation with Quicken 2016, I will be investigating using QFX as an alternative to QIF, especially since American Express deleted QIF's from its transaction download page some months ago.
