Q: imac 12,2 bricked after latest El Capitan update
Have a 2011 12,2 iMac 27" Ran great until the latest El Capitan update (week or two ago). After the update, it starts to boot and then fails to complete the boot - white screen - spinning indicator - Apple logo disappears.
I should note it has a Samsung 840 Pro SSD (latest firmware verified) as the boot drive, but everything I tried also failed using the original HDD.
I reset SMC and NVRAM, Reformatted the SSD, ran extended HW tests - all good.
I used Network Recovery to install Mountain Lion - works great. Machine boots fine, runs applications, etc.
Once I apply the El Capitan install from the app store, it gets 70% through the install (bar progress) and then dies - won't boot - same issue as above.
Any thoughts?
Seems like a Kernal issue with the latest El Capitan version (I had been running El Capitan fine until this update).
