New Macbook was working fine with USB C to HDMI connecting to a 27inch Samsung Curve monitor, then one day it just stopped when I plugged a USB drive into the adapter when the USB C power was not connected, the Samsung display stopped displaying (but the monitor is powered). The MacBook display settings show the Samsung monitor is recognised by the MacBook and the MacBook showing that it's mirroring the laptop display but there is nothing on the monitor. Exact same thing happened with my 74 inch Samsung TV two weeks later.
