Siri sometimes updates old reminders instead of creating new

I've been noticing for quite some time that sometimes when I use "Hey Siri" to create a new reminder for later today, she ends up updating an existing reminder that I have instead. I can't seem to reproduce it now, but after asking her to create a new reminder she'll say "OK, I updated the reminder" (rather than "OK, I'll remind you"), and I see she's updated an existing reminder. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Just happened to me now five times in a row and she still is not listening. It's always something with her she is worthless. You would think by now they would allow her to work of you cell carriers network instead of WiFi! Guess what!! Sometimes you don't have WIFI!! Come on Apple !! Get with it !! Make our lives easier!! It's that the point of technology??!

Apple...that's not useful. On iOS 10.3 beta 1 and it's still a problem. I routinely have reminders that haven't passed yet and I need to create a new reminder. I "hey Siri remind me tomorrow to pick up tacos" or whatever. It says "I've updated the reminder" and creates a new reminder with the same title with a new time. I've phrased this in a few ways and all of them result in a new time for an existing reminder. I didn't notice this problem until iOS 10. I have manually type the reminder and set the time if I have any unaddressed reminders. Serious this is a problem.

I've had this same problem for some time now; it appears to occur when you attempt to create a new reminder while you have an outstanding reminder. In fact, in testing, this problem even occurs when I say "Siri, create a new reminder for _____." The outstanding reminder is just updated to be for the new time specified; even weirder, sometimes she'll create the same reminder for the next day without eliminating the old one. Really odd.

Edit: Some users have suggested listing the entire reminder details as a workaround, but even this doesn't work in some cases; specifying everything I need still sometimes results in "Ok, I've updated the reminder."

Same issue here although I found a permanent fix. I only use Google Assistant these days. I am one of the millions of Apple users who is systematically removing apple devices and software from my life. The company has become too large to be able to maintain the values and principles on which it was formed. It's unfortunate as I really used to love my devices. Not anymore.Only 2 laptops and a phone remaining, and as soon as they go, so do I.

I was also facing the same issue and it was very annoying.

Recently i have changed how i ask Siri to create reminder, instead of asking siri to create new reminder i have started saying "remind me about update documents on Saturday 9 am" . so far it is working very good i have not seen any incident till now of siri updating the reminder instead of creating new one.

May be this will hel.

Thank you back. It's so frustrating and yes, it happens all the time, and I also don't understand why it hasn't been a big topic of discussion. You're the first person besides me that I've known to have this problem. A web search reveals nothing except this thread. Can't figure out why. It seems like such a flagrant and obvious bug.

This is a hugely obnoxious problem. Setting reminders accounts for about 90% of my Siri use. Suddenly, she seemingly finds it terribly difficult to grasp the concept that a human person might need to remember more than one thing on a particular day!

-Siri, set a reminder for Friday, January 29th at 12:04 p.m.

-Okay, I've updated the reminder.

-NO! Siri, set a NEW reminder for January 29th at 12:07 p.m.

-Okay, I've updated the reminder.

-GODDAMIT, NO!!! Siri, set a BRAND NEW reminder for January 29th at 12:08 p.m.

-Okay, I've updated the reminder.

[Finally]

-Siri, CREATE a new reminder for January 29th at 11:49 a.m.

-Okay, what would you like me to remind you about?

-"Staff meeting today at 5:00"

-Okay, your reminder has been set for today at 5:00

-NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Ack - Novice9, you must have been hiding in the bushes and stole my lines because that is almost EXACTLY the scene that just played out.

Same 90% reminders from Siri. Has worked great, but I'm ramping up my use of it, and suddenly it's Who's On First? every other time I try to create a reminder.

Why hasn't this been addressed? No advice from Apple on this issue? It's quite insidious and possibly recent.
