I just bought this new gadget yesterday.
My iPhone 6 overnight typically only goes down 3-4%.
The new case went down 11%.
The phone has been minimally used for 6 hrs, and the smart case is already down to 65%
Does the case's battery need to be "trained" so that it can last longer?

A good question to ask the maker of the smart battery case, or defer to their support site.

It may take a few discharge cycles for the iPhone to re-learn the new capacity it has.
I Also noticed this issue. The case drains continually at a rather worrying rate of about 2% per hour, while the iPhone sits at 100% doing nothing. This happens even when charging the combo with a 5W adapter - if there is charge in the case, while iPhone is charged the case drains by 3-4% which is too little for a case trying to do "fast charge" to the iPhone (I mean supplying some additional power to the charger current to faster charging times as iPhone 6 can take over 5W) but way too much for a case doing nothing but sitting on an iPhone that is charging....
I have the apple battery smart case, I think it has damaged the battery in my iphone 6s, battery used to last 40% till i went home from work, I have used the case say 15 to 20 times, now my phone dies before I go home, where it used to be on 35 to 40%
I think the case has fried my battery, and i do not use it a lot maybe once every two weeks.
I would not buy one of these, I am going to take this up with Apple, case is not fit for purpose.....
I could understand if this was not an apple product, now i know why Mr Cook says use sparingly, which I have. Think he should have said dont use if you want your phone battery to be damaged.
My iphone 3gs had a better battery ....
