Sync iPhone and Mac

I have an iphone 5S with iOS 9.1 and a MacBook Pro with 10.11. I'm noticing recently that when messages come through my iPhone the Messages app appears on the MBP. Just now, I'm on my iPhone, I pressed a link from a text msg which opens a page in Safari on the iPhone. At the same time, I get something appearing on my MBP. I don't want my iPhone and MBP working this way. How can I stop this syncing/sharing feature between my devices. It's incredibly annoying.
