Install freezes with 7 minutes remaining with El Capitan on a 2010 MacPro 12 core. Tried it twice and each time the bar stopped with 7 minutes remaining. Help!

I was performing a system upgrade to El Capitan. The software downloaded from the App Store. I clicked on the install button and everything went well until the install bar stopped at 7 minutes. I let it ride for a couple of hours and then did a restart. Exactly the same thing happened again. The progress bar stopped at 7 minutes. All I have visible on my monitors is the Apple Logo and the progress bar, no cursor or anything else. Not sure 'where to go from here.

Mine took WAY longer than the time indicated. And the bar appeared to stall for some hours. I hung in there and in the end it did progress and install. I did four Macs and the slowest took nine hours from start to finish.

Thus my only suggestion is to hang in there. You can always start the progress before going to bed and avoid the battle of watching that progress bar.
