Q: Very new to Apple. Tips on how to maximize battery life on a MacBook Pro. Please kindly help.

Hello Apple Support Community.

I am very new to the Apple MacBook Pro. I am more knowledgable with iPhones and iPads. Just got my very first MacBook Pro last week. I have the highest level MacBook Pro 13 Inch. I was wondering if there were any helpful tips on how to maximize battery life. If you can please kindly give detailed tips. As I said I am very new here and to Apple MacBook Pro. Hope someone can kindly help. Thank you so much. Happy Holidays to you all.

Rule 1: do not run it dead as a general practice, and do not at all if it can be avoided.  That really breaks down the battery capacity.

Rule 2: If you must use it in-class in in-library or other remote uses, then go ahead and know that battery replacement will occur sooner ... that is just your computing need.

Some keep it on charger almost all of the time, running it down to 50%-ish every 2 weeks or so.  Others want you to use the battery-only more often.

Keep in mind that battery "cycles" matter more than how long you had them.  Using 100% of the battery in 1 cycle, so using the battery down to 50% twice is 1 cycle.  Last I heard, batteries are good for about 1000 cycles.
