Dvd video freezing on DVD player after burning from FCPX

Good day

I seem to have multiple problems, and I'm not sure if the problems are related to each other...

I have exported a video project to DL DVD discs (multiple copies), and I found that majority of the DVDs freeze at a particular point on the video when playing on the DVD player. My clients have also reported the DVD freezing on their DVD player. However, when playing on the built-in DVD player in my MacBook, the issue does not exist and the DVD plays fine.

I've tried exporting from the main timeline to DVD (now I found that all projects are stopping at 66%)

I've tried exporting as a .mov file, and then burning to DVD via Toast (error messages come up)

I've tried importing onto Compressor and exporting as an .img file, then burning onto DVD (the video plays but still freezes at the same place when tested on an independent DVD player).

Could my footage be corrupted? Why would it play smoothly on my laptop and on the DVD app, but freeze on DVD players? Why would some apps like FCPX and Toast Titanium not complete the burn to DVD anymore?

Please help

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), FCPX v10.1.4

I think, there are several hurdles to go with your disks....

• that 66% error is well known here; honorable user Russ H recommends to check the background pic (if any is applied), and resize it to DVDs standards 720x480

• that 'stickieness' at a well defined point could be an issue with Double-Layer media; as the name implies, the player has to switch layers at a given point. That could work. Or not. Homebrewn DL disks often show this misbehaviour. Solutions? Lil' known: different media, slower burn speeds … avoid DL at all 😀

What's odd in your error description is, that Toast comes up with an error using a mov - that mov is playbacked by QTplayer without issues? Can you check in FCPX the point where the DVDs quit? The material in use - at that point - any special? What is the source of this material?

What happens, when you split your project into two parts and burn it on SL-DVD?

Is it optional for you, to use a different burner? Disk-drives tend to 'rust' 😉 , and a first sign of getting old is, to create disks only playable on that drive. You get ext. DVDdrives for lil' money… (having one in some drawer, for the 2-3 DVDs a year...)

Two apps, Toast AND FCPX fail indicates for me, something's wrong with your hardware/disk burner.... 😟
